Let Them Eat Cake…

The famous line from Marie Antoinette…who actually said brioche (bread but very rich with eggs and butter)…John McCain wants you to believe that he cares about the middle class and low income families…he wants you to believe that he worries that you need bread (let alone brioche) and that Obama is an ivy-league elitist. John McCain…the same one who owns…can’t remember SEVEN HOUSES. The same man whose wife wears an outfit worth around $300 000 to the convention. I don’t mind what she wears to the office or her board meetings. We all know she has her own money but really, to make us believe YOU believe in something, you at least need to act like you believe…

Vanity Fair rang up the bill as follows:

Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000
Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500
Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000
Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000-$25,000
Shoes, designer unknown: $600
Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100

Yeah Cindy, sure you are one of us…

  1. That’s what really gets to me. And why I go overboard in my response to them The double standards and lies they live just gets under my skin. I wonder how much that “I am a Navy wife” broach of hers was. It has a rock in the middle. Add another few thousand (more than what an average navy sailer earns in a year I bet…)

  2. @ AA – that is my point too. I don’t mind her wearing smart and expensive clothes, hell if she has earned her money, let her wear it. But when some body visits a country where malnutrition and starvation are part of every day life, do you carry a cup of coffee and a breakfast sandwich with you when you meet the people? Likewise, when you want ordinary people to vote for your husband because both of you “understand” the position of Joe Soap, do you dress up with a bill that is more than what most will earn in a lifetime? Cindy is an attractive woman, surely she can impress us more with learning more about the fact that foreign policy knowledge does NOT come from being the governer of the part of the country closer to Russia, than with what she is wearing! WTF?

  3. Wow and she looks crap as well, all that money for that? She needs a stylist for sure. You have to walk the talk and talk the walk, one by itself leads you to idiotarsey

  4. @ SF – idiotarsey or idioTARTSY…anyway just from a social/fashion/woman point of view…never like OU GOUD as a colour…reminds me of a school uniform! As Naas Botha’s wife once said to some one I know, “Money just can’t buy class, you know.” (in her heavy accent…)
    🙂

  5. […] the Perfect PR.  I’ve heard the cries “Vote Early, Vote Often” and “Let Them Eat Cake…” but what really matters? Is it about The Family is a Higher Calling or How Politics Reveals […]

  6. First of all, the person who would wear a white sports watch with a designer gown should be shot by the fashion police, and said jewels be stripped from her person for bad taste in public.

It goes to show that money doesn’t buy you either taste or class. On the other hand, Michelle Obama looked great in her White House Black Market dress that cost a whopping $200 if that. I thought SHE looked very nice.
